Thamood, belied their Messengers. 141 When their brother Salih (Saleh) said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 142 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 143 Have fear of God and obey me. 144 For this I demand no recompense from you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 145 Will you be left in what is here, secure [from death], 146 amidst [these] gardens and springs 147 And tilled fields and heavy-sheathed palm-trees, 148 "And you carve houses out of mountains with great skill. 149 So fear Allah and obey me. 150 Do not follow those who are extravagant, 151 who corrupt in the earth, and do not reform' 152 They said: "You are only of those bewitched! 153 "Thou art no more than a mortal like us: then bring us a Sign, if thou tellest the truth!" 154 He said: This is a she-camel; she shall have her portion of water, and you have your portion of water on an appointed time; 155 Do not treat her unkindly or the punishment of a grievous day will fall on you." 156 But they killed her, and then they became regretful. 157 and torment struck them. In this there is evidence of the Truth, yet many people do not have any faith. 158 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 159
