Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
59 verses, revealed in Mecca after Vanity (Al-Zukhruf) before Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha Mim. 1 By the Clear Book 2 We sent it (this Quran) down on a blessed night [(i.e. night of Qadr, Surah No: 97) in the month of Ramadan, the 9th month of the Islamic calendar]. Verily, We are ever warning [mankind that Our Torment will reach those who disbelieve in Our Oneness of Lordship and in Our Oneness of worship]. 3 (We revealed it on the Night) wherein every matter is wisely determined 4 by Our own command -- We have been sending messages, 5 A mercy from your Lord; indeed He only is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 6 Lord of the heavens and earth, and all that between them is if you have faith. 7 There is no god but He: It is He Who gives life and gives death,- The Lord and Cherisher to you and your earliest ancestors. 8 Aye! they're in doubt sporting. 9 But watch thou (O Muhammad) for the day when the sky will produce visible smoke 10 Which would envelope mankind. That would be a grievous affliction. 11 (They will say): "Our Lord! Remove the torment from us, really we shall become believers!" 12 How could this punishment bring them to their senses when a Messenger evidently had come to them, 13 yet they turned away from him and said: “This is a well-tutored madman.” 14 We now remove the punishment for some days so you will again commit the same. 15 However, We shall truly take Our revenge on the day when the great seizure takes place. 16 ۞ And assuredly afore them We proved Fir'awn's people, and there came unto them an apostle honoured. 17 "Deliver the creatures of God to me. I am the trusted messenger sent to you. 18 "And exalt not yourselves against God: for, verily, I come unto you with a manifest authority [from Him]; 19 “And I take the refuge of my Lord and yours, against your stoning me.” 20 If you do not believe in me, leave me alone." 21 Then he supplicated to his Lord saying: 'These are sinful people' 22 (The reply came:) "March forth with My Servants by night: for ye are sure to be pursued. 23 Leave the sea behind you parted; they are a host destined to be drowned." 24 How many gardens and water-springs they left behind! 25 And fields and grand palaces! 26 and what prosperity they had rejoiced in! 27 Thus (it was), and We gave them as a heritage to another people. 28 Then neither the sky shed tears over them nor the earth. They were granted no respite. 29

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
