He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 In honored books, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
