The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He was created of spurting water 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 And it is not amusement. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
