Thamud (people also) belied the warnings. 23 And they said: a mere human being from amongst us, and single! shall we follow him! verily then we should fall in error and madness. 24 How is it that he has received guidance? In fact, he is the most untruthfull and arrogant person". 25 'They shall surely know tomorrow who is the impudent liar. 26 Behold, [O Salih] We are letting loose this she-camel as a test for them; and thou but watch them, and contain thyself in patience. 27 Tell them that each one of them has the right to have a certain share of water". 28 But they called their commander, who seized and hamstrung her. 29 How was then My punishment of which they had been warned? 30 We sent a single blast against them, and they were reduced to husks of a decayed fence. 31 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 32 The people of Lot denied the warning. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 through Our Mercy. So it is that We recompense the thankful. 35 He had warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warnings. 36 Then they even solicited his guests from him, whereupon We blotted out their eyes, (telling them): “Now have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings.” 37 In the morning early there came upon them a settled chastisement: 38 Now taste My punishment after My warnings! 39 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 40
