The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has there come on man a while of time when he was a thing unremembered? 1 Verily We! We created man from a sperm of mixtures, that We might prove him, wherefore We made him hearing, seeing. 2 We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). 4 Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, 5 a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; 6 They (are those who) fulfill (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil will be wide-spreading. 7 who give food, for the love of Him to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying),"We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks. 9 We are afraid of our Lord and the bitterly distressful day". 10 So Allah will save them from the evil of that Day and has secured for them radiance and joyfulness, 11 And their recompense shall be Paradise, and silken garments, because they were patient. 12 Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon). 13 And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. 14 Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. 16 And in Paradise they will be given to drink cups, filled with a mixture of ginger. 17 drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; 19 And when thou lookest them thou shalt behold delight and a dominion magnificent. 20 In it they adorn clothes of fine green silk and gold embroidery; and they are given silver bracelets to wear; and their Lord gave them pure wine to drink. 21 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' 22
