The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
