When We said to the angels, "Prostrate yourselves to Adam", they prostrated themselves, but not Iblis: he refused. 116 Then We said: "O Adam! verily, this is an enemy to thee and thy wife: so let him not get you both out of the Garden, so that thou art landed in misery. 117 It is assuredly given to thee neither to hunger therein, nor to go naked, 118 “And that you never feel thirsty nor hot sunshine hurt you.” 119 Then the Satan whispered unto him; he said: Adam! shall I direct thee to the tree of eternity and a dominion that ageth not? 120 And both ate of (its fruit), and their hidden parts were exposed to one another, and they patched the leaves of the garden (to hide them). Adam disobeyed his Lord, and went astray. 121 Thereafter his Lord accepted him, and relented toward him, and guided him. 122 God said, "Go down, both of you, from here, as enemies to one another." If there comes to you guidance from Me, then whoever follows My guidance will not lose his way, nor will he come to grief, 123 Whoever ignores My guidance will live a woeful life and will be brought in Our presence blind on the Day of Judgment. 124 He will say, “O my Lord, why have You raised me blind, whereas I was sighted?” 125 The Lord will say, "This is true. But just as you forgot Our revelations that had come to you, so, too, are you forgotten on this day." 126 And that is how We requite him who is extravagant and does not believe the signs of his Lord; and surely the punishment of the Hereafter is far more severe and persistent. 127 Is it not a guidance for them (to know) how many generations We have destroyed before them, in whose dwellings they walk? Verily, in this are signs indeed for men of understanding. 128
