Al-Zukhruf 3 of 7

When Abraham said to his father and his people: "I am rid of what you worship 26 except Him who originated me, for He will guide me' 27 This is the legacy he left to his descendants so that they may turn (to God). 28 Yea, I have given the good things of this life to these (men) and their fathers, until the Truth has come to them, and a messenger making things clear. 29 And when the Truth came to them they said: “This is just sorcery and we reject it.” 30 They said, "Why was this Quran not sent down to one of the great men of the two cities?" 31 Is it they who would portion out the Mercy of thy Lord? It is We Who portion out between them their livelihood in the life of this world: and We raise some of them above others in ranks, so that some may command work from others. But the Mercy of thy Lord is better than the (wealth) which they amass. 32 And were it not that [with the prospect of boundless riches before them] all people would become one [evil] community, We might indeed have provided for those who [now] deny the Most Gracious roofs of silver for their houses, and [silver] stairways whereon to ascend, 33 And doors of silver for their houses and couches of silver upon which they would recline. 34 And adornments of gold. Yet all this (i.e. the roofs, doors, stairs, elevators, thrones etc. of their houses) would have been nothing but an enjoyment of this world. And the Hereafter with your Lord is only for the Muttaqun. 35
