The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 You will become three categories: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
