Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you the (sleeping) enwrapped one! 1 Keep awake [in prayer] at night, all but a small part 2 It may be half the night or a little less than that 3 Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. 4 We are about to cast upon you a weighty Word. 5 Verily the rising by night! it is most curbing and most conducive to right speech. 6 True, there is for thee by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties: 7 But keep in remembrance the name of thy Lord and devote thyself to Him whole-heartedly. 8 The Lord of the East and the West-- there is no god but He-- therefore take Him for a protector. 9 And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity). 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the deniers, who live a life of comfort, and bear with them a little longer. 11 for with Us there are fetters, and a furnace, 12 And food that chokes, and a painful punishment. 13 (They will come across all this) on the Day when the earth and the mountains shall tremble violently and the mountains shall crumble into heaps of scattered sand. 14 We have sent a messenger who is a witness over you, just as We sent a messenger to Pharoah before you. 15 But the Pharaoh disobeyed the apostle; so We seized him with a grievous punishment. 16 How, then, if you refuse to acknowledge the truth, will you protect yourselves on that Day which shall turn the hair of children grey, 17 The heavens itself will be rent asunder (on that day). His promise is bound to be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is an Admonition: therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) path to his Lord! 19
