Then when the sent ones entered unto the household of Lut. 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 And we have brought unto thee the truth, and verily we say sooth. 64 Depart with your family in a part of the night and walk behind them and let none of you turn round. Go to a place where you are commanded' 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals). 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 They said, "Did we not forbid you to extend hospitality to strangers?" 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 Verily, by thy life (O Prophet), in their wild intoxication, they wander in distraction, to and fro. 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers. 77 The dwellers of the Wood (near Midian) were also wicked. 78 So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
