The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and a few from later times. 14 On studded thrones. 15 facing one another. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And shade extended 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
