WHAT, THEN, is amiss with such as are bent on denying the truth, that they run about confusedly to and fro before thee, 36 From the right and from the left, in crowds? 37 Does every man among them aspire to be admitted into the Garden of serenity? 38 By no means! Surely We have created them of what they know. 39 I do not need to swear by the Lord of the eastern and western regions that We have certainly all the power 40 To replace them by those better than them; and none can escape from Us. 41 Then leave them alone to plunge and play until they encounter that day of theirs which they are promised, 42 The day when they will come out of their graves in all haste as though rushing to their altars, 43 With their eyes lowered in fear and humility, ignominy covering them (all over)! That is the Day which they were promised! 44
