The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By those who set the ranks in battle order 1 and the scarers scaring 2 By those (angels) who bring the Book and the Quran from Allah to mankind [Tafsir Ibn Kathir]. 3 Verily your God is One. 4 Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between the twain, and Lord of the easts. 5 Surely We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment, the stars, 6 And as protection against every rebellious devil 7 they cannot overhear the Higher Assembly for they are pelted from every side, 8 With a driving fusillade, and theirs shall be a torment perpetual; 9 Except such as snatch away something by stealing and they are pursued by a flaming fire of piercing brightness. 10 Then ask them (i.e. these polytheists, O Muhammad SAW): "Are they stronger as creation, or those (others like the heavens and the earth and the mountains, etc.) whom We have created?" Verily, We created them of a sticky clay. 11 No wonder you are surprised as they laugh with scorn. 12 And when they are reminded, they remember not. 13 And when they see a sign, they ridicule 14 it and say, "It is only plain magic". 15 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then certainly be raised, 16 And our fathers too?" 17 Say: Aye! and you shall be abject. 18 There is but one Shout, and lo! they behold, 19 And say: "Ah woe! This is the Day of Reckoning." 20 [And they will be told:] "This is the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false - the Day] which you were wont to call a lie!" 21
