By the moon, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 A warning to mankind, 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 except the people of the right hand 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 as if they were startled asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
