The people of the Wood too called the messengers liars. 176 What time Shu'aib said unto them: fear ye not? 177 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 178 So fear Allah and obey me. 179 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ Give a full measure and be not of those who diminish; 181 And weigh with a balance straight. 182 and diminish not the goods of the people, and do not mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 and have fear of Him Who created you and the earlier generations." 184 They said: "You are only one of those bewitched! 185 Thou art but a mortal like us, and lo! we deem thee of the liars. 186 Therefore cause a portion of the heaven to come down upon us, if you are one of the truthful. 187 He. said: My Lord is the Best Knower of that which ye work. 188 But they gave him the lie. And thereupon suffering overtook them on a day dark with shadows: and verily, it was the suffering of an awesome day! 189 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 190 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
