Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 The Trusted Spirit hath brought it down. 193 Upon your heart, for you to convey warning. 194 It has been revealed in plain Arabic. 195 Surely, it is foretold in the ancient scriptures. 196 Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 And had We revealed it unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 and had he recited it unto them [in his own tongue,] they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused this [message] to pass [unheeded] through the hearts of those who are lost in sin: 200 they will not believe in it until they see the grievous punishment. 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are not aware, 202 Then they will say: are we to be respited? 203 Do they then ask for Our Penalty to be hastened on? 204 What do you see? If We gave them enjoyment for years, 205 Then there comes to them that with which they are threatened, 206 That which they were made to enjoy shall not avail them? 207 We never destroyed any habitation but that it had warners 208 To remind, and We are never unjust. 209 It was not the satans who brought it down: 210 And it behoves them not, and they have not the power to do (it). 211 Indeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed. 212 Hence, [O man,] do not invoke any other deity side by side with God, lest thou find thyself among those who are made to suffer [on Judgment Day]. 213 Warn your close relatives 214 and lower your wing to the believers who follow you. 215 Then if they disobey you, say: "I am innocent of what you do." 216 Have trust in the Majestic and All-merciful God, 217 Who sees you when you stand up. 218 and when you turn among those who prostrate themselves. 219 Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 Shall I tell you on whom the satans descend? 221 They descend upon every sinful liar. 222 The satans try to listen to the heavens but many of them are liars. 223 As for the poets, the erring follow them, 224 Did you not see that they keep wandering in every valley? 225 And they speak what they do not do? 226 Except those who believe, and do good works and remember Allah in abundance and became victorious after they had been wronged. The wrongdoers will surely know which turn they will be returning to (Hell). 227
