Lo! he was a tyrant of the wanton ones. 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 And We gave them signs in which lay clear favours. 33 [Now,] behold, these [people] say indeed: 34 'There is nothing but our first death; we shall not be revived. 35 Bring then our fathers if ye say so. 36 Are they, then, better than the people of Tubba and those before them, whom We destroyed because they were truly lost in [the same] sin? 37 And We did not create the heavens and earth and that between them in play. 38 We created them not save with a purpose but most of them know not. 39 Truly, the Day of Decision is the appointed time for all of them, 40 The day on which, no friends will benefit each other at all, nor will they be helped. (Except those who are pious – see verse 43:67) 41 Apart from those to whom God is kind. He is all-mighty and all-merciful. 42
