The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
