He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 So you are after him! 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And he feareth 9 You neglect. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble, pious. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 Mother and father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing, joyous; 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
