The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 shall call for destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
