The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 God has certainly power to bring him back from the dead. 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
