In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou enwrapped in thy robes, 1 Stand up in Prayer by night, all but a small part of it; 2 (a half of it, or diminish a little, 3 or a little more, but recite the Quran slowly and distinctly. 4 Soon shall We send down to thee a weighty Message. 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 Verily there is for thee by day occupation prolonged. 7 But recite the name of your Lord withdrawing yourself from everything, devoting yourself exclusively to Him. 8 He is the only Lord, so choose Him as your guardian. 9 Bear patiently with what they say and with a fine abandonment forsake them. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the deniers, who live a life of comfort, and bear with them a little longer. 11 We have fetters (for them) and a blazing fire, 12 food that chokes and painful punishment 13 (They will come across all this) on the Day when the earth and the mountains shall tremble violently and the mountains shall crumble into heaps of scattered sand. 14 Surely We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We had sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 but Pharaoh rebelled against the Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 If you, disbelieve, how will you be able to protect yourselves from the hardships of the day which would even turn children grey-headed? 17 the Day whose severity shall cause the heaven to split asunder? Allah's promise is ever bound to be fulfilled. 18 Surely this is a reminder, then let him, who will take the way to his Lord. 19
