The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
