And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 nor any loving friend. 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
