Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Reality - 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 in a lofty garden, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 And not known my account! 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
