Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a high Garden 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 and arranged cushions 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
