Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I do not (need to) swear by this town (Mecca) 1 And you are free to live upon it, -- 2 And (the mystic ties of) parent and child;- 3 Assuredly We have created man in trouble. 4 Does he think then that no one has power over him? 5 He may say (boastfully); Wealth have I squandered in abundance! 6 Does he think that no one has seen him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes? 8 a tongue, and two lips, 9 and shown him the two highways [of good and evil]? 10 But he could not scale the steep ascent. 11 And what do you know what that difficult steep is? 12 It is freeing the neck, 13 And to feed in the day of hunger. 14 An orphan near of kin, 15 or to a destitute lying in dust; 16 and, then besides this, he be one of those who believed, and enjoined upon one another steadfastness and enjoined upon one another compassion. 17 Such are the Companions of the Right Hand. 18 and [as for] those who are bent on denying the truth of Our revelations, they are the people of the left hand, 19 Upon them shall be a Fire that will hem them in. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
