The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra'. These are the verses of the Book, and a Clear Qur'an. 1 The unbelievers would haply like to wish that they had submitted (and become Muslim). 2 Leave them alone, to enjoy (the good things of this life) and to please themselves: let (false) hope amuse them: soon will knowledge (undeceive them). 3 And every dwelling that We destroyed, had a known decree for it. 4 No nation can outstrip its term nor can they lag behind. 5 They say: "O you to whom the Admonition has been revealed, you are surely crazed. 6 Why do you not bring down the angels upon us, if you are truthful?" 7 We do not send the angels but with truth, and then they would not be respited. 8 It is We who have sent down the Reminder and We will, most surely, safeguard it. 9 And certainly We sent (apostles) before you among the nations of yore. 10 and not a single Messenger came to them, but they mocked at him; 11 Even so do We [now] cause this [scorn of Our message] to pervade the hearts of those who are lost in sin, 12 That they should not believe in the (Message); but the ways of the ancients have passed away. 13 Even if We opened out to them a gate from heaven, and they were to continue (all day) ascending therein, 14 they would surely have said, "It is only our eyes that are spellbound! Nay, we have been bewitched! 15
