When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They said, 'Nay, but we have brought thee that concerning which they were doubting. 63 And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful. 64 Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." 65 And We communicated to him the decree that by the morning those people will be totally destroyed. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame. 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 And We turned the city upside down, and rained on them stones of hardened lava. 74 Verily therein are signs for men of sagacity. 75 And lo! it is upon a road still uneffaced. 76 Most surely there is a sign in this for the believers. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
