Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 Nor a true friend; 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
