The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
