In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha Mim 1 By the Scripture which maketh plain, 2 We verily, have made it a Quran in Arabic, that you may be able to understand (its meanings and its admonitions). 3 And surely it is in the original of the Book with Us, truly elevated, full of wisdom. 4 So shall We divert the advice away from you, because you are a nation that exceeds the limits? 5 And how many Prophets We did send among the earlier people! 6 but whenever a prophet came to them, they mocked him, 7 And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded. 8 Yet, if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will answer: 'The Almighty, the Knower created them' 9 He who appointed the earth to be a cradle for you, and appointed ways for you therein, that haply you may be guided; 10 And Who sendeth down water from the sky in (due) measure, and We revive a dead land therewith. Even so will ye be brought forth; 11 He Who created all the pairs, and appointed for you ships and cattle whereupon ye ride. 12 That ye may mount upon their backs, and may remember your Lord's favour when ye mount thereon, and may say: Glorified be He Who hath subdued these unto us, and we were not capable (of subduing them); 13 And verily unto our Lord we are to return. 14 The pagans have considered some of His servants as His children. There is no doubt that the human being is simply ungrateful. 15

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
