The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic." 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 The pinnacle of wisdom – so how will the Heralds of warning provide any benefit? 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 with down-cast eyes they shall go forth from their graves, as though they were scattered locusts. 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ The folk of Noah denied before them, yea, they denied Our slave and said: A madman; and he was repulsed. 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and We caused the earth to burst with gushing springs: so that the waters met for a purpose which had been decreed. 12 And We bare him on a thing of planks and nails. 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 And We left it as a sign – so is there one who would ponder? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
