The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Arise, and warn, 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 And made things easy for them. 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 frowned and scowled, 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
