The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 by the night swarming, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
