The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
