Al-Taareq
The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
