The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
