The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra. These are the verses of the Book and the glorious Quran. 1 Oft times would those who disbelieve fain that they had been Muslims. 2 Leave them to eat and enjoy, and let them be preoccupied with (false) hope. They will come to know! 3 And We destroyed no township but there was a known decree for it. 4 No group may advance its appointed promise nor postpone it. 5 (The unbelievers have said), "You to whom the Quran has been revealed are insane. 6 Why do you not bring to us the angels if you are of the truthful ones? 7 We send not down the angels save with the Fact, and in that case (the disbelievers) would not be tolerated. 8 Verily We! it is We who have revealed the admonition, and verily We are the guardians thereof. 9 We did send messengers before thee amongst the religious sects of old: 10 And no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him. 11 Even so We make a way for it (that is, the Admonition) in the hearts of the culprits (like a hot rod); 12 That they should not believe in the (Message); but the ways of the ancients have passed away. 13 Even if We open a door in the heavens and they ascend through it in broad daylight, 14 They would only say: "Our eyes have been intoxicated: Nay, we have been bewitched by sorcery." 15
