Those who spend their wealth night and day, both privately and publicly, will receive their reward from their Lord. They shall have no fear, nor shall they grieve. 274 Those who devour usury will not stand up on the Day of Judgement, except like the one whom an evil jinn has deranged by his touch; that is because they said, “Trade is also like usury!”; whereas Allah has made trading lawful and forbidden usury; for one to whom the guidance has come from his Lord, and he refrained therefrom, is lawful what he has taken in the past; and his affair is with Allah; and whoever continues earning it henceforth, is of the people of fire; they will remain in it for ages. 275 Allah destroys interest and gives increase for charities. And Allah does not like every sinning disbeliever. 276 Those who believe and do good deeds, and fulfil their devotional obligations and pay the zakat, have their reward with their Lord, and will have neither fear nor regret. 277 O you who have attained to faith! Remain conscious of God and give up all outstanding gains from usury, if you are [truly] believers; 278 but if you do not do so, then you are warned of the declaration of war against you by Allah and His Messenger. If, however, you repent even now (and forego interest), you are entitled to your principal; do no wrong, and no wrong will be done to you. 279 And if one be in difficulties, then let there be a deferment until easiness. But if ye forego, it will be better for you if ye knew. 280 Fear the Day when you shall be returned to Allah. And every soul shall be paid in full what it has earned; and they shall not be harmed. 281
