The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER Mount Sinai! 1 and by the Book in lines 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 The roof raised high, 5 And the swollen sea, 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 none can avert that. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 such as play at plunging, 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 and so God has graced us with His favour, and has warded off from us all suffering through the scorching winds [of frustration]. 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
