The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you enveloped in your cloak! 1 arise and give warning! 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 And your garments do purify, 4 stay away from sins 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then looked he, 21 frowned and scowled, 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what could make thee conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
