Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Yea indeed, We are able to make whole his very finger-tips! 4 But man desires to continue in sin. 5 'When will the Day of Resurrection be' he asks, 6 But [on that Day], when mortal sight is confounded, 7 The moon eclipsed, 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 On that day man will cry: Whither to flee! 10 No indeed; not a refuge! 11 With your Lord alone shall on that day be the place of rest. 12 On that Day will man be apprised of his deeds, both the earlier and the later. 13 nay, but man shall against himself be an eye-witness, 14 even though he offers his excuses. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 Truly, you love immediate gain 20 and neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will be radiant on that Day, 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 And on that day some faces will be ghastly. 24 certain of facing a great calamity. 25 By no means! When it cometh up to the collar-bone. 26 And they will say, “Is there any one – any magician?” 27 and when he thinks it is the time of departure 28 And anguish will be heaped upon anguish: 29 upon that Day the driving shall be to your Lord. 30
