The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
