The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
