The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and spreading shade 30 Gushing water, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
