The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
