Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 Yet, going into the blazing fire. 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 well-placed cushions, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
